The Department of Anthropology at the University of Missouri invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank starting Fall 2019. The position will be a joint appointment in the Department of Anthropology and the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR).
We seek an archaeologist specializing in archaeometry, especially the geochemical sourcing of ceramics, stone, and other archaeological materials, with additional specialization in the Southwest US and experimental approaches. Analytic expertise includes the ability to conduct geochemical sourcing using instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) and X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer. The successful candidate will contribute to archaeological course offerings, including artifact analysis, archaeometry, and Southwestern prehistory, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in anthropology or a closely related field, conferred by July 2019.
Maintenance of an externally-funded and active research agenda leading to publication in leading peer-reviewed journals and student research opportunities, and commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels are expected.
